The Navy Education Society (NES) that spearheads the educational wing of the Indian Navy has always been committed to providing the best educational facilities and world class education to its students. NES strongly believes that a band of good teachers with a high sense of commitment and sincerity can usher in quality in education. Aiming at excellence in its academic expedition, NES has aptly realized that teachers are the sheet anchors who should be scholars of the highest order with knowledge, wisdom and compassion. Only the best teachers can produce the best students and shape them into excellent citizens of the nation.

To attain this objective, in a first of its kind, a Centre for Faculty Development, was inaugurated on the 12th of March 2019 at Kochi by Vice Admiral A K Chawla, AVSM, NM, VSM, Flag Officer Commanding in Chief, Southern Naval Command, Indian Navy. The Centre, housed in the administrative wing of Navy Children School, Kochi, aims to provide quality augmentation to faculty members from across the country in terms of values, character, domain research, social orientation and contribution to national development. Under its auspicious, Faculty Development Programmes will be conducted at regular intervals. 

Inaugurating the learning centre, the chief guest asserted that quality education is the greatest gift that we can give our children today. He called upon the faculty of different Navy Schools across the country to work in synergy with the CFD to ensure that they give their best to the students and to reignite their passion and love for learning. He further congratulated Navy Children School, Kochi for having been bestowed with the honour of hosting the CFD. The inaugural ceremony was witnessed by Vice Admiral Biswajit Dasgupta, AVSM, YSM, VSM, Controller of Personnel Services (CPS), Indian Navy and other senior officials. Cmde R Ravi Sankar, Vice Chairman, Capt Rakesh Dhal, Director, and Dr. Nellie Paul Verghese, Principal, NCS Kochi were also present at the occasion.
